Network Systems Engineer

Are you an experienced Network Systems Engineer with a strong background in network design, architecture, SD-WAN, and hybrid cloud environments?

If you thrive in complex infrastructure environments and want to help shape and secure a large Nordic network landscape, we invite you to join the BAUHAUS Nordic Infrastructure Team.

Join our Infrastructure Team, based in Tilst (Aarhus), Denmark, and work hands-on with modern network technologies across both Azure and on-premises platforms. You will play a central role in the design, development, and operation of a highly available and secure network infrastructure across the Nordic region. You can also expect occasional travel to Sweden and Finland as part of the role.

Your Responsibilities

As a Network Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that BAUHAUS’ network solutions across all Nordic countries remain modern, secure, and highly available. You will design, implement, and optimize network solutions in close collaboration with the Infrastructure Team, while also acting as the technical lead within the network domain.

You will be the most experienced specialist on the network team, supported by a Network Administrator.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and maintaining the current network setup across all physical and cloud locations
  • Designing, planning, and implementing network infrastructure solutions with a strong focus on security, availability, and scalability
  • Creating and implementing new network solutions in both Azure and on-premises environments
  • Participating in migrations from private cloud to public cloud, including network design and architecture
  • Supporting the Network Administrator in handling day-to-day operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of networks, firewalls, and related systems
  • Evaluating and introducing new technologies to ensure BAUHAUS remains at the forefront of network innovation
  • Contributing to projects with network dependencies, including:
    • Integration of Finland and Estonia into the Nordic infrastructure
    • Redesign of the core network infrastructure

Technology Environment

BAUHAUS operates primarily within a Cisco- and Azure-based network environment. Examples of technologies and platforms include:

  • 550+ switches, 1,800+ access points, 15,000+ client devices, 115 firewalls, 60 4G routers, and 250 servers across 60 locations in 6 countries
  • Cisco Firepower FTD / vFTD and Cisco Firepower FMC
  • Cisco ISE (802.1X)
  • Cisco ASAv
  • Cisco Umbrella
  • Cisco Meraki (switches, access points, firewalls/MX, vMX, and MDM)
  • Cisco Nexus and Catalyst
  • Microsoft Azure: vNETs, routing, load balancing, gateways, and related services

What a Typical Day Looks Like

The day usually begins with a daily stand-up meeting, where the Infrastructure Team reviews ongoing issues, priorities, and support needs. You will then focus on your individual tasks.

A significant part of your time will be project-based, including work on new technologies, automation, development, and infrastructure improvements, as well as cross-functional projects involving multiple departments.

Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Network Administrator on monitoring alerts, handling tickets, and responding to network-related requests.

What’s in It for You?

You will join a highly skilled Infrastructure Team of 12 specialists, each with deep knowledge in their respective areas and strong insight into related technologies. The team is based in Denmark (Tilst) and Sweden (Stockholm), and close collaboration between locations is essential.

BAUHAUS is a growing organization offering exciting technical challenges and real opportunities to influence and shape the future infrastructure landscape. You will work hands-on with modern technologies and receive support for your professional development through a mix of operational responsibilities and project work.

About You

To succeed in this role, you bring the following qualifications and experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Network Systems Engineer or in a similar role
  • Strong expertise in network technologies, Azure, hybrid on-premises solutions, and network architecture
  • Advanced skills in troubleshooting, analysis, and problem resolution
  • Solid experience with firewall technologies and security management
  • Proficiency in PowerShell, including writing and reading scripts
  • In-depth understanding of network security principles – including when, where, and how to apply them
